Covetous Sinner? But It's Already Mine!

What is the first thing that comes to mind? For me, the dearest piece of furniture in my apartment is my bed. And not for the obvious reason. As a chronically single gal most of my romping is done solo.

If I have to sleep someplace other than my own house the first thing I think about is the bed. Will it be comfy and cozy? Or will I be cold with rough sheets cutting at my skin, only to wake in the morning grumpy with severe back pain. Will the sheets smell good? I can’t stand the scent of stale smelly sheets and blankets. I travel with handy linen sprays in scents of lavender.

I love my bed. It means everything for me. Safety, warmth, comfort, stability – I can be sure my bed will be in the same place everyday! My bed never refuses my company. I can lean on it anytime. Plus, there’s no bill to pay to ensure it will be there every night.

421167489 01949e04a3 m Covetous Sinner? But Its Already Mine!I can live without a television, radio, couch, even a computer. You doubt me? I lived in several places throughout Gambia and Senegal in West Africa and hands down without a good bed I was totally miserable. My bed is my refuge. I can deal with all the crap in the world if I have a good bed to retreat to. No television? Go make a friend. No computer? Grab a pen or pick up the phone. No radio, who cares, most of the stuff playing is crap and full of commercials anyway.

But to sleep on the floor, or on a mattress that is too small, or with something jabbing you in your side or back. God take me now! What’s the point if I cannot sleep like the princess I am only to wake groggy, grumpy with horrible bags under my eyes and pain throughout my body? Get the picture?

If I had to pick a second household item I would go for a refrigerator. I like my hemp milk cold. Actually I take that back. A toilet, Western-style please. Those holes in the ground that I encountered in West Africa didn’t sit too kindly with me, if you get my drift.

Which utility I can’t live without? No, it’s not electricity. It’s water. Yep, running water to flush my toilet after I get up from my comfy cozy bed. I’ll drink hot juice and room temperature hemp milk for eternity if I had to.

407367463 573203d90e m Covetous Sinner? But Its Already Mine!I experienced having to fetch my own water to bathe with and replenish my toilet tank back when I lived in Gambia. I lived on the third floor. Water is damn heavy and the men there don’t carry water. Needless to say I was pissed as I lugged gallons of water past lazy butt men who just sat and watched me do “women’s work” – the bastards. Thank goodness for the American man who will open a door or carry your heavy bag every now and again once you throw your hand on your hip, cut your eye and exclaim how dare he not!

But back to the topic at hand – to hell with electricity, keep my water flowing, my bed cozy and my toilets flushable.

I began cancer sticks when I was 14 years old. It was the biggest mistake of my life. Now 20 years later I have found quitting is harder than you can imagine. I used all of the stop smoking tools but none helped me stop. Then I heard about the e-cigarette, a nicotine liquid that consists of only nicotine. No toxic substances at all. They have literally saved my life. No more inhaling cancerous substances feels stupendous!
