A Writer Gone Mad: At A Loss For Words

On a quiet evening two days before its deadline I sit here trying to complete an application for one of the most pre-eminent writing fellowships in the country. With all the verbiage I can usually muster I am stumped on the one page statement of plans that all applicants are required to submit. The simple question of “what do I plan to do if I get this fellowship?” has me stumped. Of course I can answer it. I will have a party to celebrate my accomplishment but then I will write, write, and write some more. But that is only one line. Deck the Madness this Holiday Season

Once again the holiday season is upon and we are all getting ready to pile on top of one another in cars, buses, trains and planes, traveling to see friends and family whether we want to or not. Yet when my medical bills eat up my income, or instead of going to the doctor I suffer in pain making it damn near impossible to go to work, therefore leaving me with little money and no job. Sure I’ll believe the claim that there is no correlation between financial stability and good health. [...]

A Single Gal's Midnight Rant

It’s been a few years since I’ve been out on the dating scene. So imagine the cold-water-in-your-face wake up call I got when I realized there was a huge difference between seeing someone, casual dating, serious dating, just hanging out, friends with benefits, a loose/casual relationship versus a serious relationship. And then there are the grey areas that don’t fall within any of the categories I just mentioned. And wouldn’t you know it but none of my current “situations” even qualifies for any of the situations above. I don’t know what to do with myself or them. [...]
